At Work

22nd January 2009 (Thursday)

note: JiaWei had a thought.
note: funny stories at work. *edited*

Last few days at work.

A summary:

1. im not as matured as i thought i was.
2. so much more to learn.
3. so much to learn from people with different backgrounds.
4. listen to what your parents have to say. as much as we (being kids) sometimes hate the nagging/lectures from our parents, what they say is most of the time (99.5%) true. one point in life, you have to admit that they've experienced the real world longer before you were even born. as the chinese says 'they eat salt more than you eat rice'.
5. take the initiative. this is something that i've never really thought i had a problem with, but, in actual fact, i do. when you don't ask, you don't get it. i thought i knew, i thought it was ok, but, it was not.
6. teamwork. miscommunication and assumptions leads to mistakes. i know im still not working well with my teammates. another mistake.
7. if you want to be heard, work smart. really.

Internship wasn't so bad after all.
Though my precious holiday is almost coming to an end and i've been working most of the time, it was a good trade.

Seriously, 21 is nothing but a number unless you start mixing with the adults and have a taste of the real world. everything is different. i realized how protected and comfortable i was in my bubble. what im hearing and heard is slowly becoming a reality.

Nope, not too late for me.
Step by step.
Everyday there's a new lesson to be learnt.

A touch of the working world, a small step closer to maturity, a group of new friends, an idea on future plannings, a whole new set of experience, a BIG lesson learnt.

The End :)

Just yesterday, i attended my current company's employees conference.
So tea/refreshments were served at the end of the conference. Im not sure why but somehow everyone looked as though they've not eaten for days. the conference was held after lunch. Before the conference officially ended, people were already outside at the makan (eating) area taking food from the short buffet line. Some were eating already! I had a colleague who was really looking forward to the food at the end of the conference. Mind you, this was BEFORE everyone got out from the hall as photo session was going on.

So after the photo session, everyone came out and headed straight to the short buffet table.

I went with a few of my colleagues and saw another colleague (said looking forward to the refreshments) who was already in line. His first sentence was "don't try to cut the line. queue up. i know you guys always do this." erm....oookkkaaaayyy... First, i NEVER EVER in my life jumped queue. Second, CHILL DUDE! plenty of food still!

Colleagues whom i was with joined the line, from behind of course. I on the other hand went to the other side to see if there was another line. Just as i realized there wasnt, i tried to make my way back to the previous line. Before i could even cross the line in order to queue from behind, i saw another lady colleague of mine and smiled at her. She in return said "eh, no jumping queue ar." OMG. what is wrong with you people!! she actually stood closer to the person infront of her to close the gap, just in case i jumped it -_______________- i was speechless. oh, the said colleague also did the same thing. Please lar! cut the paranoia. it's just fried beehoon, roti jala, curry chicken and fruit tarts. Till this extent? necessary? Most importantly, i had no intentions of jumping queue. ish.. *slap them left right up down* (no not literally of course)

Eventually, after two encounters, i went straight to the drinks, took a cup of coffee and settled for it. Screw the food.

And i thought adults would be matured enough to not do all these things.
Apparently, NOT.

Funny people.
